Le Presbytére is a really good base for a country holiday. Country walks from the front door in any direction and restaurants only 10 minutes drive (one is walkable for the hardy -25 mins). Locally there is a Plan d'Eau with boats for hire and a 9 hole golf course plus a restaurant.
Very close is the Mortainais canton, in wooded valleys, and a lovely old rampart town with waterfalls and a swimming pool perched on a cliff over a green vale. Tennis, swimming indoor and out with leisure centres, horse riding all available in the spring and summer.
The coast can be reached in approx. 40 minutes by car, and offers many resorts with sandy beaches, good coastal swimming and rock pools.
Granville, to the west is a pretty coastal town with marina, fishing port, market and a good. beach. North or south from there, up the Cotentin are many other beaches, suitable for children, as far as the huge bay of Mont St Michel to the south, and Barneville Carteret in the North.
Avranches, is roughly the same distance as Granville with spectacular view towards Mont St Michel, which itself is definitely worth seeing (if you can stand hoards of tourists at high season). Avranches is the gateway to Brittany and St Malo, which is approx 50 minutes drive further west, most attractive and one of our access ports. Dinan likewise is 50 mins further west and a lovely walled medieval town
Bayeux and the amazing tapestry and The D Day beaches are favourite sights for our visitors, as is Bagnoles de l'Orne, 30 minutes east in the gorgeous Regional Park.
